About

Who would want to be a stunted bonshai
It’s branches trimmed to conformity
And placed conspicuously
In a polished brass pot?
I’d rather be a creeper,
Growing wild on the hillside
Smiling in the sun
Drenched by the rain
And breaking into blossoms
Over the moss covered rocks
And when the winter came
Why, I’d fold my leaves and hide
Till Spring smiled on me again

I’m not a magician
But I weave dreams
And they then create
A beautiful world , for me

I’m not a musician
But the song of streams
In my soul reverbrates
And I feel unbound and free

I’m not a religious person
But my swelling heart redeems
And in the love that within me pulsates
I get a glance of divinity.

I’ve always loved bonsai, but you’ve given me a new perspective. Maybe I can still enjoy looking at them, while also appreciating the fact that I’m not stunted, trimmed, and potted. Much better to be “growing wild on the hillside.” Beautiful poem.

Nadira, I’ve just subscribed. I’m thrilled to find you. I have too many feeling words jockeying for position right now – they would fall out like rambunctious children full of too many sweets. I will share my delight as we walk this blog road together. (And I see Victoria – live2write2day – is one of your readers, too! Two peas in a pod.)
